Lightship Capital Leads $1.6 Million Seed Round for Undock

Cincinnati, OH, August 24th, 2020 – Lightship Capital is pleased to announce completion of a $1.6 million equity round of financing into AI enabled productivity platform, Undock.

Undock is a graduate of the Winter 2020 cohort of New York’s prestigious Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA). Their patent-pending AI connects people across different organizations, calendar applications, and geographies to meetings that work.

Undock’s privacy centered approach to sharing availability is especially relevant in today’s remote work landscape, as organizations are challenged to communicate internally and externally. Lightship Capital will also assist in site selection as Undock to relocates to the Midwest.

“A few times in life you use a product and know instantly that it’s transformationally better than what you have been using. That’s Undock.” says Brian Brackeen, General Partner at Lightship Capital. “The company has it all-- it solves a real problem, with beauty and elegance, and it’s got a visionary leader in Nash Ahmed. We loved him at hello and the more we dug into the company, the more confident we became that Undock is an absolute winner.”

The round was led by Lightship Capital, and includes participation from several other notable investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Lerer Hippeau, Alumni Ventures Group and Arlan Hamilton. Undock plans to utilize the capital raised to expand their team and continue building a world-class product.

“It’s time to rethink the entire user-experience for meetings” adds Nash Ahmed, Undock Founder and CEO. “As the global economy becomes increasingly dependent upon remote work, the cracks in the existing systems become more apparent. Amidst the chaos of work and life, Undock provides stability and balance to your schedule. We look forward to delivering on our product vision to allow people to work more flexibly.”

Lightship Capital is the largest of its kind venture capital fund empowering underestimated entrepreneurs and overlooked ecosystems across the US. Their approach to investing is motivated by the belief that social change and profit are simultaneously attainable-- so they find, fund, and educate underrepresented innovators and regions typically excluded from meaningful access to funding. Lightship Capital invests in early stage companies led by BIPOC, LBGTQ+, Women & people with disabilities who operate in the CPG, E-Commerce, Sustainability, Artificial Intelligence, and Healthcare spaces.

Bessemer Venture Partners is perhaps the nation’s oldest venture capital firm, tracing its roots back to the Carnegie Steel empire. The firm has been part of over 120 IPOs in the last 50 years, and its portfolio includes household names such as Shopify, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Wix, and Yelp.

Lerer Hippeau is an early-stage venture capital fund based in New York City. As founders and operators ourselves, we see returns in relationships. Lerer Hippeau provides post-investment support and services that address the most pressing areas of need for early-stage founders, offering the tools and relationships they need to build their brands and scale.
