SUBE is UBER for Spanish-speaking Latinx riders in the US. Launched in Cuba on December 17, 2018, just one week after mobile data was available to the country— Sube was built by four young Cubans leveraging seed money and business guidance from a Miami based Cuban American. Originally intended to modernize and automate transportation dispatch in Cuba, the amazing response to their launch combined with data indicating that people in US cities with large Latinx populations were downloading their app— the team decided to research around the number of Latinx drivers, and passengers, in the US who do not use ridesharing apps because they consider UBER and LYFT services primarily for English speakers. They found out that the number is significant enough to support a $810mm yearly market opportunity in the US. SUBE intends to service this market and close the existing gap in ride sharing accessibility for Latinx drivers and riders.
